Therapeutic Drug Monitoring(TDM)

Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is a clinical practice for therapy optimization by measuring the concentration of drug in biological samples, based on the fact that the concentration of drug in these samples correlates better to the pharmacological activity than dosage for evaluating efficacy or toxicity. TDM provides a strategy to maximize drug efficacy while preventing the emergence of concentration-dependent adverse drug reactions, and so helps clinician to optimize a patient’s clinical outcome in various clinical situations by managing their medication regimen.
TDM has been performed for more than 50 years as a clinical routine. Today, in an era of Personalized Medicine with more understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind inter- and intra-individual variability in drug exposure and effects, TDM will play a more important role in clinical pharmacology. Immunoassay is one of the main choices for TDM due to its ability for analyzing a wide range of analytes and the advantages like high sensitivity, high-throughput, and inherent specificity.
Bowei-Bio has over 15 years of expertise in producing high-quality antibodies targeting various small-molecule drugs, as well as in developing immunoassays using these antibodies. Currently, our antibodies, conjugates and immunoassay kits cover more than 50 pharmaceuticals for which TDM is strongly recommended. We will continue to focus on this growing area, striving to expand our product offerings to better serve our customers and contribute to the advancement of personalized medicine.

Thyroid Hormones

Thyroid dysfunction is one of the most common endocrine disorders, with a reported prevalence of 10-25% for general population in different regions of the world. Accurate diagnosis of thyroid dysfunction strongly depends on accurate determination of thyroid hormones, since the signs and symptoms of thyroid diseases are often nonspecific, subtle, or absent. Over the past decades, immunoassay plays an important role for diagnosis of thyroid diseases, and evaluation of the effect of treatment, remission and relapse of the disease.
We have concentrated on immunoanalysis of thyroid hormones for more than 30 years, and now provide a group of high-quality conjugates and antibodies for immunoassay of the three main thyroid hormones, including T3 (3,3',5-Triiodo-L-thyronine), T4 (L-thyroxine) and rT3 (3,3’,5’-L-Triiodothyronine).

Biomarkers of Health and Aging

The biomarker of health and aging is defined as a wide range of biological indicators which reflect the underlying physiological processes, including the normative and pathogenic ones. Since these markers are closely associated with health and aging, detection of them may have utility in clinical diagnosis, epidemiological studies, health surveys and as outcomes in intervention studies that aim to promote the health of humans. Some of these markers can even be prudently applied as predictor for features of health, survival, or wellbeing.
Bowei-Bio has concentrated on analysis of these biomarkers for several years, and released a series of antibodies and conjugates for detection of these targets. We will continue to deepen our effort in this area to launch more products to support in-vitro diagnosis and basic researches.

Steroid Hormones

Steroid hormones are endogenous chemicals which control the main endocrinology functions of human beings. The monitoring of these hormones is necessary for examining individual and population variations in reproductive function and their relationships with demographic, health, environmental, sociocultural, and biological covariates.
Analysis of steroid hormones as biomarkers requires high sensitivity, and in some cases need to be capable of detecting down to pg/mL level. Also, steroid hormones share the same structural skeleton with three six-member rings, one five-member ring, and an oxygen at C3 on the A-ring either as double bonded oxygen (=O) or hydroxyl group (−OH). Due to this structure similarity, the analysis of steroid hormones must be specific enough to selectively detect the target analyte in biological samples with complex components. In views of these points, steroid analytics is highly challenging.
Bowei-Bio has over 10 years of experience in hapten design and antibody production for testing of steroid hormones. Our optimized conjugates and antibodies can be used for developing sensitive and accurate immunoassays of steroid hormones.

Food Safety Related Analytes

Food safety has become a growing concern for both consumers and regulatory authorities, primarily driven by the rising incidence of foodborne illnesses worldwide. Food safety hazards that pose risks to human health mainly include intentional food adulteration, excessive or improper application of pesticides and antibiotics, overuse of chemical preservatives during food processing, illegal use of artificial fruit-ripening agents, microbial contamination, improper food storage, transportation and handling practices, as well as various contaminant residues derived from environmental pollution and agrochemical exposure.
To prevent and control such risks, stringent regulatory frameworks have been established worldwide, imposing strict limits on the levels of potential contaminants in the environment and food products.
The effective supervision of food safety is highly dependent on the use of reliable analytical methods to achieve accurate screening of contaminants in various specimens across different scenarios. The antibodies and paired conjugates developed by us can be used to establish immunoassays for accurate, rapid and portable monitoring of some common contaminants.

Abused Drugs

In recent decades, a variety of drug classes have contributed to patterns of recreational use, misuse, addiction, overdose, and death. While the traditional drugs of abuse remain popular, newer synthetic drugs have continued to increase. The epidemic of nonmedical use of prescription medications has added to the existing public health issue of illicit drug use. Besides the individual health problems, the abuse of drugs has posed a great challenge to the healthcare system. The monitoring of drugs of abuse in biological samples is important in different fields such as clinical toxicology, forensic toxicology, workplace drug testing, testing of driving under the influence of drugs, and doping analysis.
The tremendous increase in the abuse of drugs by our society creates the need for rapid, reliable, sensitive, specific and inexpensive methods to detect and identify drugs in biofluids, drinks, foods and health care products. Immunoassay well meets these requirements and has become the most commonly used screening method for routine drugs of abuse analysis.
Bowei-Bio has developed a panel of antibodies and conjugates for drug abuse monitoring, which can be applied for detecting the nonmedical and illicit drug abuse, evaluating the possible overdoses, and verifying the adherence to prescription medications.

Vitamins

Vitamin is a group of low-molecular weight compounds which are required in small amounts for normal health and metabolism. With few exceptions, humans cannot synthesize most vitamins and therefore need to obtain them from food and supplements. Insufficient levels of vitamins result in deficiency diseases, e.g., scurvy and pellagra, which are due to the lack of vitamin C and niacin, respectively. Analysis of vitamin levels of biological samples is helpful for determining human nutritional requirements, and assisting diagnosis of related diseases. In addition, analysis of vitamin in pharmaceutical preparations, food and food supplement products also plays an important role for the health and food sciences, and is one essential part of the compendium of evidence which defines nutritional status, and thus guides public health decisions about nutrient requirements, and the dietary or medical interventions in individuals.
We have developed a suite of antibodies and antigens dedicated to vitamin immunoassays, and moving forward, we will roll out an expanded portfolio of products that act as core raw materials for accurate vitamin immunoassays across human fluid specimens and food/beverage matrices.

Others

This series of biomarkers includes small-molecules that do not fall into the aforementioned categories but are closely associated with human, animal and environmental health. Examples include angiotensin Ⅰ/Ⅱ for the diagnosis of hypertension and cardiovascular-cerebrovascular diseases, cholyglycine for identifying abnormal hepatobiliary function, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid for the auxiliary diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors, and 11-dehydrothromboxane B2 for monitoring aspirin resistance.
Some products applicable for development of IVD reagents are also classified under this category, such as dinitrophenol and its antibody, which serve as quality control materials in quantitative immunochromatography.
